The Creation Process
Pat creates in her studio in Houston, Texas where she gathers information and inspiration from many sources to envision her unique, incredible, individual costume designs.
“ I get as much information about the client/performing venue as possible: coloring, body type, range of movement, likes and dislikes and most importantly, I listen to their music. The music and the movements that I visualize to the music are the primary source of my inspiration."
This is a process that includes hours of research into a theme, perhaps a movie,
a time period, types of fabrics, and colors. “ I find inspiration everywhere and in everything. I see the dress, see it on the person, and see its movement, flow, and changing silhouettes before it is ever made.”
Finally, she will submit color sketches and fabric samples to the client for their approval. The finished product is an exact duplication of the sketch. “ The sketch is my blueprint.”
